This web page contains information about how the program works.  Please read it carefully, it will
help you locate a suitable place to live, and explains your responsibilities so you can stay on rental
assistance for as long as you need the help.

When you have been issued a Housing Choice Voucher you may locate a unit of your choice to rent.
If you are living in a unit that meets your needs and the landlord is willing to participate in the
program, you may be able to stay where you are. Lonoke County Housing Authority will inspect the
unit for Housing Quality Standards.  If the unit is decent, safe and sanitary the necessary paperwork
can be completed, and the rent subsidy can begin.

For families who want to move, the links to the left will be helpful.

You are encouraged to ask questions about the program.  Please feel free to submit questions at
any time during your participation in the program. If you prefer, you may submit your question(s) in
writing or by e-mail.

Application Process
  1. Submit Pre-application to the Lonoke County Housing Authority (LCHA)
  2. Receive letter of pre-qualification
  3. If you receive a letter requesting more information and/or documents, you will have ten (10)
days to provide it - after ten (10) your pre-application will be shredded if we have not received
    all requested information.
  4. Complete a full application - do not leave any blanks empty!
  5. Submit your completed application with your pre-qualification letter, and all of the required
    documents to LCHA.

Applications will
NOT be accepted without the pre-qualification letter.  Once we receive your
completed application and all requested documents and we are able to complete all of our
necessary verifications you will be placed on the waiting list.  We can not tell you how long you may
be on the waiting list - there are several variables that would determine that.

Once you are at the top of the waiting list and we are ready to issue a voucher to you we will send a
letter notifying you to attend an Orientation Session.  You MUST attend the Voucher Session to
receive your housing assistance voucher.  If you do not attend the voucher session and you do not
contact us BEFORE the voucher session - your application will be dropped and you will have to start
completely over if you still would like to receive housing assistance.
